Life As An Introvert

I am an introvert, no I am not shy.....I don't like small talk... I don't hate people

An Introvert is a person who is reserved, quiet, and solitary. We have the tendencies to recharge by spending time alone. As an introvert, we tend to lose energy from being around people for long periods, particularly in large crowds.  All introverts will agree with me that we find small talk incredibly cumbersome because we hate the barriers it creates between people, not that we hate people. Furthermore, as an introvert, we can give a speech in front of 500 people or more with little or no struggle. The struggle we face is meeting and greeting large groups of people on an individual basis.

We tend to be an expert at one thing than try to do everything, we tend to notice details that others don't see, we have a keen eye for detail, noticing things that may escape others around us. The researcher has found that we exhibit increased brain activity when processing visual information as compared to extroverts. Furthermore,  we enjoy solitude, our idea of a good time is a quiet afternoon to ourselves enjoying our hobbies and interest, this does not mean that we want to be alone all the time.

  Myths about Introvert

Introverts don't like to talk -

This is not true, we only talk unless we have something to say, what we hate as mentioned before is small talk if you get us to talk about something that interests us we won't shut up for days.

Introverts are shy -

We are not afraid of people what we need is a reason to interact, we don't interact just for the sake of interacting, if you want to talk to us just start talking don't worry about being polite.

Introverts are rude  -

We don't see a reason for beating around the bush with social pleasantries. we want everyone to just be real and honest. However, this is not acceptable in most social settings so we can feel a lot of pressure to fit in, which we find exhausting.

Introverts don't know how to relax and have fun -

We typically relax at home or in nature, not in busy places. We are not thrill-seekers and adrenaline junkies. If there is too much talking and noise going on we shut down. Our brains are too sensitive to the neurotransmitter called dopamine.

Introverts are aloof nerds -
we primarily look inward, we pay close attention to our thoughts and emotions. It's not that we are incapable of paying attention to what is going on around them, it's just that our inner world is much more stimulating and rewarding to us.

Being Introverted is not a death sentence. So don't be ashamed of who you are, we are special and unique people. A lot of persons will not understand us,  but don't try to change yourself just to become acceptable. I Am A Proud Introvert.
