Don't Just Exist
"Are You Living or Just Existing?"
I recently watched the movie 'The Family That Preys', by Tyler Perry. This movie got me thinking after hearing this question being asked, "Are you living or just existing?" I started evaluating my life to find out if I am living or just existing. I want you too, to ask yourself this question as well, "Are you living or just existing?"
So, for me to determine the answer to this question I have to know the difference between Living and Existing. So after doing my research I found out that Existing is doing the necessary things to stay alive( eating, earning a living, breathing, sleeping etc). While living is to savour every moment of your existence for what it is and do whatever you are doing in the best possible way known to you. Living is being able to find joy and humour in your surrounding while working with passion and enthusiasm. Living is taking risks not just playing it safe.
So are you Living or Existing?
So after evaluating my life I guess I am just existing and I have made a solemn vow at that point to start living. I want to know that 40 years down the road I can look back on my life and say to myself " Carlene you really have lived." So if you are just existing below are some pointers you need to start implementing in your life to start living:
1. Stop living within proximity travel to another county go somewhere you always wanted to go but always putting it off. Do something spontaneous.
2. Stop being ok with unanswered questions search for what you want to know. Search until you find your purpose, experiment until you find your passion. Reach out for the relationship you want.
3. Make an obligation to yourself to start scheduling your " you" time just as essential as you do everything else.
4. Find joy in things that aren't just extrinsically rewarding.
5. Do what you want and say no to what you don't.
6. Surround yourself with people who enjoy living.
7. Stop living in the future.
8. Stop overthinking
9. Stop comparing yourself to other people.
10. Stop running from your life and start living it.
So stop existing and start living. My friend the minute you alter your perception of yourself and your future, both you and your future begin to change then and only then you start to live and not just exist.
