Way Back Into Love

"It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all."

Love is a universal concept that has survived through ages." love is a deep affection of fondness, sexual passion, sexual relations for beloved one or sweetheart."( Oxford Dictionary). Several theories have been established to understand the universal concept of love.

                  Theories of love

According to the theory of  Platonic Sexual, it believes that there is no such thing as " true love" they believe that love is nothing but an illusion designed by social expectation. This theory believes that love ultimately turns into pain and despair.

The Evolutionary Theory holds that love is part of the process of natural selection this theory state that loves function is to attract and retain a mate to reproduce and then care for the resulting offspring.

The Spiritual Theory considers love to be a gift from God. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered. It keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts hopes present. (1Corithians 13:4-7).

Sternberg's Theory of love, which is also called the Triangular Theory of love. This theory outline three component of love: the Intimacy Component, a Passion Component and a Commitment Component. The intimacy component, it is a feeling of attachment, closeness and connectedness. The second component is the passion, the fiery depth and intense feeling you get when you like someone. It encompasses the drive connected to both limerence(romantic attraction) and sexual attraction. The third component is the commitment that comes into tying the two together. It is a decision to remain with one another ( short term) and plans made in the future ( long term).

One thing for sure love is universal, it literally transcends people, nations and religion. It is the universal language of this world and people from all walks of life recognize it for what it truly is and understand the power that is in it.
